Extra Business

It’s a new year and a new opportunity to look forward to a new flow of income, or at least the possibility of some additional income.  How are you going to be able to do this?  Start a business!

While starting a new business there are a few things that you’ll want to give consideration to: (1) Your set-up type: proprietor, partnership, or corporation.  Each has its advantages and disadvantages and you’ll want to give serious consideration to this formation.  The decision you make now may affect our operations for years to come. (2) How much money are you going to be able to put into the start-up of your operations?  This answer will of course be dependent upon what kind of business you are going to be operating.  (3) What kind of bookkeeping system are you going to use.  There are many good ones on the market, but you’ll need to decide if YOU are going to keeping the books or will you be hiring someone to do this for you.  (4) There are many other things that you will have to consider so it may be best for you to check out your local and state agencies as to their requirements.

In this blog I’m going to discuss what may be one of the easiest business operations to get going and some of the available tools (services) that may help you to get it done smoothly and quickly.  The business is DROP SHIPPING!

Maybe you’ve never heard of it, maybe you have.  But this business can get you producing income quickly and with a minimum amount of financial investments.  There are going to be a few things that you will need to make this work:

(1)   A Website.  There are many businesses on the web that will help you get an online merchandising business going.  And there fees are usually reasonable.  However, you’ll also want to determine WHAT you are paying for and WHAT you’ll have to be adding as EXTRAS!  These can become very expensive when you begin to add it all up.  I’ve found the following service very helpful in creating your own website:  www.jamarbizbuilder.com.  This website may at first appear a bit expense (One year hosting fees are about $215) but with your site you get included 5 email boxes, a shopping cart, 500 pages, payment system for your sales, and MANY other benefits that other sites make you pay extra. It would be well worth your time to check out their FREE 10 day trial.

(2)   A Source of Products.  A terrific source of hundreds of thousands of products of all types that I have found very useful is the drop ship merchant directory available from www.WorldwideBrands.com.  For a onetime fee of about $300 you would get lifetime access to this directory.  They are constantly updating it with new products from their sources or even new sources themselves.  If you’re looking for a good supply source you should check them out.

(3)   Accounting.  With any business operations you are going to need a system to keep up with your income and expenses.  Even if you don’t like this chore it will be most helpful and appreciated come tax time.  Having been in the financial arena for over 40 years of my business life I can certainly appreciate the need for keeping good tract of your operations.  Some may decide (and can afford) to hire out this service to another.  That is a great idea if you can afford it.  But in the beginning or if you intend to remain a small operation you make have to care for this assignment yourself.  I have dealt with many accounting programs over the years and have found that often the best for you to use is the one that you can understand and WILL use.  But check around to make sure the program will provide you with the reports, etc that you need to track your business finances.

As you continue to promote your business you will find that this could be one of the easiest ways to have your own money making business.  Hopefully this will be the means to add some extra income each month.  Who knows, maybe this will become your FULL time employment!
